This means :he is driving now ,at the time of
speaking. The action is not finished.
Is/are /am + ing is the present continuous:

Part - 2
I am doing something=I am in the middle of doing it; I
have started doing it and have not finished yet;the activity is still going on:
1. Please do not make so much noise. I am trying to
learn.( Not I try)
2. ‘Where is Munish?’ ‘He is having shower.’ ( not he has a shower)
3. Let us go out now. It is not raining any more.( not
it does not rain)
4 .(At a party) Hai , Navita. Are you enjoying the
party .? (not Do you enjoy)
5.What is all that noise? What is going on? ( AS what
is happening)
Some times action is not necessarily happening at
the time of speaking. For ex.
Ravi is talking to a friend on the phone. He says:-
1.I am reading a really good book at the moment.
It is about a village…………….
Here
Ravi is not reading the book but he means here is ‘he has started it’ but has
not finished yet. He is in the middle of reading it.
2. Madhu wants to work in England, so she is learning
English.(Here Madhu is not reading at the moment of speaking)

Dinesh is building his house. He
hopes to finish it next month.
Part-3
We can use the present continuous with today ,this
week, this year etc.(periods around now)
1.
I am working hard today.
2.The institute I work for is not doing well this
year.
Part – 4
We use the present
continuous when we talk about changes happening around now, especially with
these verbs:
Get, change, become,
increase, rise, fall, grow, improve, begin, and start.
1. Is your English getting
better.(.not Does your English get better.)
2 .The fuel prices are
increasing very fast.(not Increases)
3. At first I did not like
my job, but I am beginning to enjoy it now. ( not I begin)
