Failure and Success are nothing to me

UNSELFISH SECRIFICE

There was quarrel between a pond and a river. The pond was preaching the river” O dea , why are you giving all your water and wealth to the ocean; please don’t squander  your valuables on the ocean. The Ocean is an ungrateful creature and needs it not. The ocean will not change it’s nature ,he will remain salty and bitter . Keep all your treasure with you ’don’t through pearls before the swine’. Now see, here the river was told to care for the result and think about the consequences. But the river was Vedanti she replied,” Failure and success are nothing to me , I don’t bother about consequences and results.”

To work is my habit, I have to work because I love work; I am working for work’s sake. My Soul my real Atman is energy. I am working to keep in activity in my life. The river went on working. On the other hand Economic and educated pond became dry in three four months; it became filthy, stagnant but the river remained fresh and pure. Slowly and silently was water taken from the surface of the ocean to refill the fountain head of the river.  Monsoons and trade winds invisibly carried water from ocean to kept the river source fresh for ever.

Like this, Vedanta requires you not to follow the sophistic (dull) policy of the pond. It is small and selfish pond that cares for the results. “What will become of me and my work?”  Work just for the sake of work. Your work should be your goal .  This is the meaning of freedom from desires which Sanatana /Vedanta/Hinduism preaches. Expect nothing from others  , worry not about the consequences .Do not bother about favorable reviews of your work or severe criticism at the same. This way you have to free yourself from desire; need not to free yourself from work, instead free your self from restlessness.

“The most effective and best cure/medicine for all sorts of distracting thoughts, passions and temptations is WORK.”

The positive joy accompanies faithful work is a spark of Salvation. It keeps you untainted (pure and clean) and one with Divinity(religion). This happiness is the highest and surest reward for work. No reward or prize can be more benign(lovable) or salubrious(decent) than the immediate joy which accompanies earnest(sincere) action. Follow the action to realize the renunciation, religion or worship it involves and be not led by the childish frivolities(nonsense) it promises. Feel no responsibility, ask for no reward. People say” First deserve and then desire.” But Vedanta says” Deserve only, no need of desiring”. “A stone that is fit for the wall will never be found in the road”. If you deserve by powerful law of Nature or can say by Devin law, everything will come to you. If a lamp is burning, the lamp should go on burning, the lamp need not to invite moths(a insect like butterfly attracts towards light). Moths will come to the lamp by themselves. Where there is fresh spring people will come to it themselves. Those loves moonlight will come out to enjoy the same when the moon will rise. So, work to realize the nothingness of the body and the supreme reality of the true self. When you will hang your personality and ego on the cross of labor , success will come to you and there will be huge group of people to appreciate you. Society accepted Christ only after He was crucified. ‘Truth crushed to earth shall rise again.’  NO seed can spring up and multiply without suffering destruction to its form and appearance. So the second essential to success is kill your little self, renunciation (reject desire for results) Mind it ‘renunciation does not mean asceticism only.
